With summer in full tow, it’s hard not to get excited about
the activities that are available this season. There’s hiking, swimming, and
all sorts of outdoor activities that are available, but what about for seniors
and the elderly? Because their bodies may not be physically able to endure such
outdoor events, they may feel a little isolated from the norms of summer fun,
but it doesn't have to be that way. There are many ways to enjoy the summer
with elderly loved ones and here are some of them:
DIY Projects:
DIY is great for bonding with your senior loved ones. DIY
(or do-it-yourself) can range from knitting to somewhat more complicated
projects like photo magnets.
Walking:
Take a stroll on the beach or a round in the park – Not only
could this benefit your loved ones as a form of exercise and physical therapy, it’s
also a nice time for catching up!
Storytelling – This takes literally no effort from both
parties and it’s also a chance to let your loved one shine. Learn a little more
about what it was like to grow up in a different time and make new memories at
the same time!
